A space for FCPS kids to connect, talk, and feel supported
Founded by FCPS parents, The Canopy Initiative exists to bring people together in support of our youth. Schools play a critical role—but they can’t meet every need.
We believe in the power of connection. By creating spaces grounded in kindness, inclusion, and shared responsibility, we help young people build resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
What the teen group is like
You don’t have to know anyone to come. You can just show up.
Our teen group is designed to offer connection, comfort, and community in a low-pressure environment where teens can participate at their own pace.
Here’s what you can expect:
- • Connect with other LGBTQIA+ teens
- • Talk about real-life topics that matter
- • Be heard—no pressure to share
- • Participate in low-key activities
- • Build confidence, community, and a sense of belonging
Why we ask you to sign up first
- • We want to keep the space safe, private, and respectful for everyone attending
- • It helps us plan appropriately for group size, materials, and snacks
- • We can share important info like location details, reminders, and updates
- • It allows us to ensure a supportive and age-appropriate group experience
